A Paybaks card is known in the industry as a virtual card, or vcard for short. Virtual cards are just like credit/debit cards, but instead of having a hard piece of plastic with a number on it that you can swipe, a virtual card is simply the card number, the expiration date and the security code delivered “virtually” over the internet. The Paybaks vcard has a number of key security features besides being virtual: a card can be a one-time use card, so after it is used the number is thrown away; each card is authorized for an exact dollar amount, so any amount higher or lower by a penny will be rejected; and each card is authorized for a short period, so after a few weeks the card will automatically expire.
